Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Texas Apex FRD-3?
The Texas Apex FRD-3 is a precision-engineered, three-position forced-reset-style drop-in device designed to assist with rapid and consistent trigger reset in compatible platforms.
Does the FRD-3 make a firearm fully automatic?
No. The Texas Apex FRD-3 does not convert a firearm into a machine gun. The device functions by mechanically assisting the reset of the trigger after each individual discharge, forcing the trigger forward so it is immediately ready for the next pull. Each shot still requires a separate and deliberate trigger function. By reducing reset time and eliminating trigger lag, the FRD-3 allows for extremely rapid semi-automatic operation, with achievable firing rates that may approach those of automatic systems, while remaining mechanically and legally distinct. The firearm does not fire continuously, and it will not discharge unless the trigger is reset and actuated again for each shot.
Is the Texas Apex FRD-3 legal?
Legality varies by state and local jurisdiction. It is the customer’s responsibility to understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws before purchasing. Orders from restricted jurisdictions will not be fulfilled.

Is the FRD-3 a drop-in device?
Yes. The FRD-3 is designed as a drop-in component for compatible platforms. No permanent modifications are required.
What materials are used in the FRD-3?
The Texas Apex FRD-3 is manufactured using high strength, precision machined materials selected for durability, longevity, and consistent performance.
Does the FRD-3 require a specific buffer or setup?
For optimal reliability and consistent performance, testing has been conducted using an H3 buffer equipped with a weighted, free moving internal mass (non-solid buffer design). Additionally, a mil-spec lower receiver and mil-spec trigger group were used during testing and are recommended. Use of non-standard or aftermarket components may affect performance and has not been fully evaluated.
